He also played and sang on local radio station, WKBZ Muskegon for two years known as the "Singing Tunestar." At 19, he went into the armed forces (Army) as Chaplain's Assistant for Chaplain Fredrick Vogel of New York, serving in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines in W.W.II. Long time members of Lakeside Baptist Church Muskegon, Russell and Lura served in many capacities of the church. For 15 years Mr. Klett and Pastor Williamson went to De Boer Nursing Home to share the gospel with residents there. In recent years, Russ has been a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church in Chesterton, active in the Jolly 60's program on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. At an early age Russ made the choice to trust Christ to be his personal Savior.
