Schaefer, age 55 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on April 15, 2015, at his
home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in
Dayton, OH, on February 26, 1960.
Jon is survived by
his beloved wife of 35 years Evanna (Bush) Schaefer and children; Jay (Jamine)
Schaefer of Indianapolis, IN, Katie (John) Fanzo of Porter, IN, and Eric
Schaefer of Porter, IN; grandchildren Olivia Fanzo, Piper, Bennett “Edward”
and Saela Schaefer; parents Norman Schaefer and Ruth (Moats) Schaefer of
Auburn, IN; mother and father-in-law, Frank and Joann Bush of Chesterton,
IN, and his extended Bush family; his brother Jeffery (Carol) Schaefer of
Piqua, OH, sister, Jill (Daniel) Kaylor of Auburn, IN, and many nieces,
nephews and close friends.
Jon worked at
Carmeuse Lime and Stone as a Plant Operator for 28 years. He enjoyed playing
basketball, coaching his children’s Little League teams and was an avid
Colts and White Sox fan. His favorite pastimes were listening to music,
watching old movies, and trivia games. Jon was a devoted husband, father and
loved being “Papa Jon” as well as one of the “boys in the field.” Jon was
also a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran
Church, 2050 W. 1100 N. Chesterton, IN.
Visitation will be
held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service
at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Eric Grayvold officiating. Cremation
services provided by Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN.
