Services Tuesday for Brian D. Himmel, 54

Brian D. Himmel, age 54 of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015.

He was born February 28, 1961, in Hammond, IN, to Karl and Norma (Parker) Himmel.

Brian is survived by his father, Karl Himmel of Porter; sister, Karen Himmel of Chesterton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Himmel; and his brother, Stephen C. Himmel.

Brian worked and resided at Shepard’s Ministries in Union Grove, WI, for 26 years and spent the last four years as a resident of Opportunity Enterprises. Brian loved people, books, music, and especially his stuffed animal “babies.” He touched the hearts of everyone who met him. Brian will be loved and missed by his family and friends, as well as all those who knew and loved him at Shepard’s Ministries in Union Grove, and at Opportunity Enterprises of Valparaiso.

Funeral services for Brian will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304, with Pastor Cathy Allison officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015 from 4:00 PM until the time of the services at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
