Pauline Solley, age
90 of Chesterton, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015, in Gary, IN. She
was born on July 26, 1924, in Clay County, Alabama to Ellis and Luda
Lamberth, both of whom preceded her in death.
Pauline is survived
by her son: John Solley of Michigan City; her daughters: Evelyn Ekstrom of
Valparaiso, Alma (Bob) Rabe of Westville, Sharon King of Porter, Becky
Weiandt of Valparaiso, Delinda Taylor of Chesterton and Cheryl Wilson of
Fort Walton Beach, FL; as well as her sister, Wynell Worthy of Alabama; her
18 grandchildren and her 34 great-grandchildren and 9 great
great-grandchildren.
She is also
preceded in death by her husband, V.T. Solley in 1980, and her children:
Jane Solley, Laura Blackstad and Daniel Solley, her sister, Ivy Ree Barbar;
her brother, Geoffrey Lamberth and her grandchildren: Lori Rabe, Christopher
Rabe, Nicole King Yauch, Crystal Solley and Keith Blackstad, along with her
great-grandchildren, Nathan King and Mary Yauch.
She was a member of
the VFW Post 2511 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served many years as the
Chaplin.
She attended the
First Baptist Church of Chesterton and the First Christian Church of
Chesterton. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in her garden and was
an avid quilter. She was a lifelong homemaker and loved her family
immensely.
Funeral services
will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at 1 p.m. at White-Love Funeral
Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN, with Pastor Larry Starett
officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will
receive friends on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home
and also on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
