Services Thursday for Jacquelyn Kaye Givens

Jacquelyn Kaye Givens (nee Swartz), 75, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015, at home surrounded by her family.

She was born March 10, 1940, in Steubenville, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Swartz; her mother, Elizabeth (nee Varney) Swartz; and her sister, Carol Lee (nee Swartz).

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Givens; children: Cynthia Virtue Kanczuzewski and Wendy (Tim) Miles; grandchildren: Alexis (Matt) Gage, Chris (Crista) Virtue, Andrew Miles, Ryan Miles, Cameron Kanczuzewski, and Madelyn Kanczuzewski; her great-grandchild, Gloria Gage; and her sister: Jeanne Wilbar (nee Swartz).

Jackie graduated from Weir High School in the Class of 1958. She worked as a secretary for National Steel Corporation, a teacherís aide at Newell Elementary School in Newell, West Virginia, and as a secretary at Liberty Middle School in Chesterton, Indiana. Jackie was a professional dancer, the President of the Hancock County Parent Teachers Association, and owned J. G. Dance Studios at the Lions Club at Marland Heights in West Virginia. She loved watching classic movies, visiting the beach, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 11 a.m., at Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N Mineral Springs Rd, Porter, IN 46304, with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating.

There will be a visitation on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN.

Memorials will be given to VNA Hospice, 2404 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
