Services Saturday for William F. Snyder, 75

William F. Snyder, age 75 of Chesterton, formerly a 40 year resident of East Chicago, IN, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home.

He was born on June 29, 1939 in East Chicago, IN to Rudolph R. and Martha M. Nowicki-Snyder, both of whom preceded him in death.

In 1964 in Lackawanna, NY, he married Judith Unger-Snyder, who survives in Chesterton. William and Judy recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

William is also survived by his daughters: Kimberly (Chad) Clarke of Atlanta, GA and Chanin (Ralf Baylie) Snyder of Hammond, IN, and also by his grandson, Alexandr Clarke of Atlanta, GA, as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He is also preceded in death by his son, Gregory Snyder, his sisters, Dorothy Vince and Hazel Jackson, and his brother Thomas Snyder.

William was a Lieutenant on the East Chicago Police Department, where he worked for 38 years. He was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Chesterton, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 10 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Church, 808 W 150th St., East Chicago, with Rev. Msgr. John J Siekierski officiating. Burial will be held at St. John Cemetery in Hammond at a later date.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 4 until 8 p.m., at Fife Funeral Home, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago.
