Ruth A. Goodloe,
age 56 of Chesterton, IN passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2015,
in Chicago, IL.
She was born on
October 18, 1958, in New Haven, CT, to James Joseph and Eileen Marie (Smith)
Butler, Jr.
Ruth was married on
September 14, 1991, in Portage, IN to Phillip Goodloe.
She is survived by
her husband, parents, siblings, James (Lori) Butler, Matthew (Rose) Butler,
Doreen Butler and Mary (Stephen) Guzowski; and step-parent Maureen (McHugh)
Butler, all of the state of CT; step-daughter, Stacey Hastis, of LaPorte,
IN; step-son, Philip Goodloe, Jr., of Michigan City, IN; step-grandchildren,
Summer Bokodi, Alyssa Hastis and Quinn Looney; nephews, Brandon, Nicholas,
Justin and Aiden Butler; nieces, Stephanie (Guzowski) Giacco and Melissa
Guzowski along with countless friends, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ruth was a
homemaker and a loving wife. After surviving a rare form of leukemia in
2004, Ruth retired from being a dental assistant and spent her days in a
variety of activities. She was an avid reader and loved sports, her family,
sock-puppets, arts & crafts, hummingbirds, voice impersonations, and her
pets. She had names for the various animals that lived near and around her
home, most famous of all "Ritz the Squirrel." Ruth had a radiant smile and
loved to laugh and make others laugh. She will be missed by all.
Memorial services
for Ruth will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds
and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304, with Father Lou
Pasala officiating.
Memorial Visitation
will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 9:00 am until the time of
service at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at
Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN.
