Services Saturday for Dolores Ann Russell

Dolores Ann Russell, 85 of Valparaiso passed away Monday, August 10, 2015.

She was born March 11, 1930 in Gary, IN, daughter of the late Joe and Viola (Cox) Comer. She worked as a secretary at the Michigan City Court House, Valparaiso Welfare Department Office, and at the Chesterton High School Library.

Dolores and her husband, Daniel, were foster parents to many children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Valparaiso, where she sang in the choir for many years. Dolores enjoyed baking pies, gardening, feeding birds, genealogy, square dancing, and was an avid card player. The family will cherish the afghans she made for each of them. Dolores also loved photography and her favorite, sunsets at the beach.

On January 21, 1951 in Gary, IN, Dolores married Daniel Russell who preceded her in death in 2000.

She is survived by her children, Karen Marie (Philip) Cordova of Grand Junction, CO, Daniel Brian (Kelly) Russell of Denver, CO, and Kyle Anthony (Sandi) Russell of Valparaiso; 4 grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth (Doug) Corwine of Denver, CO, Susan (Mike) Rohler of Lafayette, and Kevin and Jeffrey Russell; great grandchild, Kylan Rohler; and sister, Marian Hawk of Santa Barbara, CA.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jeanine Dommer.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church of Valparaiso, 103 N. Franklin St., with Rev. Dennis Deeter officiating and burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso.

Visitation will be Friday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Dunes Hospice or First United Methodist Church, Valparaiso.
