Phyllis Payne, age
81, lifetime resident of Chesterton, passed away on September 17, 2015, in
Michigan City, IN.
She was born on May
24, 1934 to John and Edna Mae (Steinhagen) Nadratowski.
Phyllis is survived
by her sister-in-law, Joan Nadratowski of Chesterton, IN. Nephews & Nieces,
John (Susan) Nadratowski, James Jr. (Denise) Nadratowski, William “Pat”
(Linda) Nadratowski, Debra (Jim) Reuther, Jamie (Karl) Dagostaro and Cheryl
(John) Gillikin. She is also survived by numerous great and great great
nieces and nephews. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, John and
Edna Mae Nadratowski; husband, Edward Payne; daughters, Laurel Payne and
Valerie Payne; and brother, James Sr. Nadratowski.
Phyllis graduated
from Chesterton High School, Class of 1952. She was a member of St. Patrick
Catholic Church and an active volunteer for Opportunity Enterprises for many
years. Phyllis was very social, she enjoyed people and loved her family and
friends.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will take place on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St.
Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, IN 46304, with
burial immediately following at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held
Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN with Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m.
