Services Friday, June 5 for Courtney Gwynne Krapf

Back To Front Page

Courtney Gwynne (Starin) Krapf left us on Friday, May 29, 2015.

She was born November 6, 1982, a tiny preemie, and grew into a young woman small in stature, but huge in personality, intelligence, wit and a burning desire to give back to the world.

She ran varsity cross-country all four years at Chesterton High School, and we always joked that she had to take two steps for everybody else’s one. She was born to be a teacher, coming home every day in first grade and playing school with her little sister, Maddy--whom she taught to read and write before she turned four.

Having always wanted to teach in an urban setting, where she felt she could do the most good, Courtney began her career at Gary Lighthouse Charter School. Eventually, she moved on to teach at Pine Elementary School in Michigan City, having a wonderful and positive influence over her students. Two years ago, she accepted the position of literacy coach at her school, and, though she missed teaching children in the classroom, worked hard to help all of them improve the scores and skills that would help them succeed both in school and in life.

Her sense of humor was wickedly funny, and she could impersonate anyone to a T; body-language, voice, you name it. We will miss her terribly.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Brian; her precious children Trent Delliquadri, Briana, Kara and Jakob Krapf; her sister, Madeleine; her parents, Jim and Penny Starin; her in-laws, Harold and Brenda Krapf; and many relatives, dear friends, students, co-workers and pets. Thank you to everyone who loved her.

Courtney was determined that her children be able to attend college. In lieu of flowers, she would wish that contributions be made to a 529 account that has been established for that purpose. For simplicity’s sake, since an account can only list one beneficiary, it bears Briana Krapf’s name, but will be allotted to all of her children. Donations may be sent to: College Choice Advisor 529, P.O. Box 55768, Boston, MA 02205. A number has not yet been assigned to the account, so please write “For the benefit of Briana Krapf: Owner/Brian Krapf” in a check’s memo section. Her family is so grateful for your care and concern.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 11 a.m., at Real Life Community Church,

3134 Swanson Rd, Portage, IN, 46368, with Pastor Scott Marshall officiating.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2015, from 3 until 8 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN, as well as from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Friday.
