Services Friday for Margaret A. Kaiser, age 89

Margaret A. Kaiser, age 89, of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015.

She was born June 7, 1925 in Michigan City, IN, to Bernard and Mary (Stahowiak) Yagelski.

On July 13, 1946, Margaret married John R. Kaiser Jr.

Margaret is survived by her children, Thomas A. Kaiser, of Chesterton, and Carol Lynn (David) Shepard, of Michigan City, and four legged friend Mollie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Robert and Albert Yagelski, sisters Frances Brown, Mary Ann Yagelski, Clara Rhode, Victoria Nellessen, Lucy Humphrey, Helen Ganshorn and Catherine Kaiser, and grandson Ronald Shepard.

Margaret was a devout Catholic, and a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and also a 50 plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 170. She loved children, gardening, and spending time outdoors and was an avid sports fan. Margaret was nonjudgmental, she always accepted people for who they were.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2015, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Ave. Chesterton, IN, 46304, with Father James Meade officiating. Burial to follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015, from 3:00- 8:00 p.m., with Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m., led by Deacon Richard Huber at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.

Memorial donations in Margaretís honor may be made to the Porter County Animal Shelter, 2056 Heavilin Road, Valparaiso, IN, 46385.
