Services Friday for Hartcel 'Bud' Rinker, 88

Hartcel “Bud” R. Rinker, age 88 of Chesterton, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.

He was born on January 25, 1927, in Michigan City, to Arthur and Willow Hazel Collins-Rinker, both of whom preceded him in death.

Bud is survived by his daughter, Linda “Sis” Rinker, of Chesterton, and his daughters-in-law, Diane Rinker, of Wheatfield, and Sandra Miller, of Valparaiso. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Fred (Lauri) Rinker Jr. of Wheatfield, Michelle Rinker of Wheatfield, Becky Rinker of Indianapolis, and Kellie Kaiser of Wanatah, as well as his great-grandchildren: Soren, Evan, Elizabeth “Sis”, Deven and Lucas.

Bud was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 2004 and by his sons, Fred and Guy.

Bud was a proud Navy Veteran. He worked at Inland Steel as a Roller at the 10” Mill for over 30 years. He enjoyed working on cars and also worked at White-Love Funeral Home, in Chesterton, for many years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 7 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, with Pastor Lori Rizer officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A burial at Chesterton Cemetery will follow at a later date.
