Services Friday for Frederick Pett age 92

Frederick Joseph Pett (Petrokovitch), age 92, of Chicago, passed away at his home on May 12, 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Straub); children Susan (Max) Corrales of El Cajon, CA, Kimberly (Eric) Ehn of Porter, IN, and Dr. Paula (Arnie) Akin of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren Evan Corrales, Ryan Corrales, Daniel (Madelyn) Ehn, Lisa (Richard) Antoniolli, Karl Ehn, Kyle Akin; great-grandchild Anders Antoniolli; nieces, nephews, and friend Steve Hruby.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater on board the USS Ashland, and attended several reunions since. Fred was a member and Past Commander of Bridgeport VFW Post 5079. He was retired from the family business in Bridgeport, Newport Beverages and was known as 'The Pop Shop Guy' and 'Mr. Newport'. Always keeping busy, he later retired from Romano Brothers Liquors and Hertz Rental Cars. He enjoyed traveling to see family, but was content to live in Chicago and spend his final time at home. He read the obituaries every day to check if his name was in it.

A Memorial Service and Visitation will take place on Friday, June 26, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ridge Funeral Home, Chicago, with interment honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
