Ronald Everette Soard, 81, of Kokomo, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2015, at his home.

He was born on June 23, 1934, in Covington, KY, the son of Charles Rupert and Flora Mae (Brown).

On September 10, 1955, he married Lila Jean Sisson, in Covington, KY, and she survives.

Ronald was a 1952 graduate of Holmes High School in Covington, KY. He went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky in 1960, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the United States Army. Ronald retired in 1997, from Bethlehem Steel as a Computer Analyst and a Programmer. He was a former member of the Chesterton United Methodist Church. Ronald then transferred his membership to the Kokomo Main Street United Methodist Church. While living in Chesterton, Ronald was a member of the Masonic Lodge and had been a commissioner and Scout Master in the Duneland Boy Scouts Council. He served on the Chesterton YMCA Board, and as a delegate for the annual conference of the United Methodist Church and umpired for Little League Baseball. Since living in Kokomo, he delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered with the Samaritan Care Givers.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Lila Soard, Kokomo; children, Richard Lee Soard, Kokomo, Rodger Allen (Sue) Soard, Bowling Green, KY, Rae Jean (John) Broderick, Chicago, IL, Karen Lynn (Russell) Miller, Zeeland, MI, Sandra Kay (Charles) Rucker, Greenfield, IN; grandchildren, Ryan C. (Lisa) Soard, Elizabeth Rebecca (Benjamin) Holman, Eric Joseph (Elizabeth) Soard, Angela Susan Miller, Brian Nelson (Bethany) Miller, Derrick Russel (Laura) Miller, Craig Edward (April) Plaiss, Travis Robert Plaiss, Megan Elise Broderick, Kathleen Ann Broderick, Bridgid Colleen Broderick, Clare Maura Broderick, along with nine great-grandchildren.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Betty Rae Collins.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Main Street United Methodist Church, 830 South Main Street, Kokomo, with Pastor Duane Carlisle officiating.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made in Ronald’s memory to Main Street UMC or to the American Cancer Society.
