Memorial Service Saturday for Grace LaMae Jackson

Grace LaMae Jackson, age 81 of Mount Dora, FL, formerly of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL.

She was born on July 21, 1933 in Chesterton, IN, to Arthur J. and Olga E. Olson- Lindstedt, both of whom preceded her in death.

On February 26, 1955, in Valparaiso, IN, she married James H. Jackson, who preceded her in death on May 18, 2012.

Grace is survived by her two daughters: Susan (Charles) Fisher, Seattle WA, Vicki (Owen) Smith, Chesterton, IN, and her grandchildren: Kelli Dehr, Louisville, KY, Allison Smith, Chesterton, IN and PFC Evan Fisher, Lexington, KY.

Also surviving are her siblings: Ardelle Seebauer, Fort Myers, FL, John (Judy) Lindstedt, Chesterton, IN, Karen Joy (Bill) Blankenship, Orlando, FL, and Dwight Lindstedt, Longmont, CO.

She is also preceded in death by her grandson, James C Smith and her siblings, Charles A Lindstedt and Mary L Wolfe.

Grace was the only child in her family who was born at home. She was raised on working farm, which taught her the work ethic she needed to eventually own her own business. She was the proud owner of “Grace’s Beauty Shop,” where she worked as a Beautician for forty-six years.

She was a 1952 graduate of Jackson Township High School.

Grace was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chesterton, IN and was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Chesterton for many years.

Once she moved to Florida, she became active in many organizations, such as the Woodlands Lutheran Church in Montverde, FL, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Leesburg, FL.

She enjoyed making clothes for her children and baking for others in her later years. Grace loved staying active and being around people.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 12 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN, with Pastor Erik Grayvold officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at the church. A private family graveside service will take place prior to services.
