Memorial Gathering Friday for Charles R. 'Charlie' Struve

Charles R. “Charlie” Struve, 77 of Pooler, GA, and formerly of Lady Lake, FL, and Chesterton, IN, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015.

He was born November 6, 1938 in Hebron, IN, son of the late Willie F. and Margaret (Arnold) Struve.

Charlie graduated from Valparaiso High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Waldron. He retired after 30 years at U.S. Steel as a machinist.

Charlie lived in Chesterton for 35 years with his loving wife, Mary, while helping to raise their family before moving to Lady Lake, FL. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with family.

On January 4, 1958, Charlie married Mary Jane Cochran who survives along with their children, Debra (Richard) Back of Pooler, GA, Charles W. (Angelica) Struve of Crown Point, and Lori (Philip) Simon of Valparaiso; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Louise and Carol.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. Đ 12:00 p.m., at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a graveside service to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
