Martha L. Warren service Saturday at VFW Post 2511

Martha L. Warren, age 85 of Chesterton, passed away on December 31, 2014 at her home.

She was born on May 29, 1929 in Dyersburg, TN, to Harry and Lucille Baker-Leach, both of whom preceded her in death.

Martha is survived by her children: Richard Warren of Chesterton, Jeffrey Warren of Michigan City and Kathleen (Greg) George of Valparaiso, and her grandchildren: Daniel, Jennifer, Roger, Jamie and Joshua. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and her brother, Harry Franklin Leach, along with many nieces and nephews.

Martha is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lori, her sister, Helen and her daughter-in-law, Bronwen.

Martha worked as an accountant at the clerk’s office in the county court house for many years. She was a member of VFW Post 2511, the Ladies Auxiliary where she was the Treasurer. The dining room has been dedicated in her honor at the VFW Post 2511 for the last ten years.

She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Martha loved baking cookies and brownies and her specialty was peanut butter fudge. She was a very independent woman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 2 p.m. at VFW Post 2511, 1290 Wagner Road, Porter, IN 46304, with dinner following.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice Center, 2404 Valparaiso Street, Valparaiso, IN.
