On December 12, 2015, Kenneth A. Meyers passed away peacefully at Bridgeview Center in Ormond Beach, Florida after a short illness. He was 73.

He was born February 8, 1942, in Gary, Indiana, to Matsy Clark Meyers and Frank Willard Meyers.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother and father and sister, Merilyn Meyers Newman (Ron).

He is survived by his sister Brenda Meyers Hyde (Paul) living in Palm Coast, FL, and three nephews: Ed Newman (Joanie) of Waukeshaw, WI; Jeffrey Newman of Santa Clarita, CA and David Hyde (Alex) of Edwards, Colorado.

Ken was raised in Chesterton, IN; attended school in Fort Wayne, IN; resided in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, area before moving to Pequot Lakes, MN, and then Palm Coast, FL.

Ken overcame many challenges and made many friends during his life. His proudest accomplishment was to be able to live independently by himself with a minimum of support from his family or American Dream Advocates, Inc. He worked for Dale Plumbing in Ft. Lauderdale for 17 years before moving on to his favorite job at Granpa’s Bakery and Restaurant in Dania, FL. He enjoyed the interaction with patrons and working with all of the waitresses at Granpa’s. Ken never met a stranger, had a great work ethic and was liked by all who knew him.

Ken was a life-long, always-optimistic Chicago Cubs fan and an ardent Miami Dolphins fan. A lover of dogs and cats, he always had time for every pet he met. He faithfully reached out to all his friends and family with phone calls on a regular basis to keep in touch. He will be missed by those who love him.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Clymer’s Funeral Home in Palm Coast on December 29, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour before the service.

Memorial donations may be made to Flagler Humane Society, 1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
