Carpenter, age 67, of San Francisco, California, formerly of Chesterton,
Indiana, passed away on May 30, 2015, from heart disease.
Jim was born on
July 5, 1947 in Gary, Indiana to Ralph and Ramona Carpenter.
He is survived by
brother John Carpenter of South Bend, Indiana, sister Carol (Gene) Follis of
Menomonie, Wisconsin, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in
death by parents, Ralph and Ramona Carpenter and little sister, Janice
from Chesterton High School, lived in Chesterton for a time, and then moved
to San Francisco, where he lived for over 30 years.
Jim (called "Ros"
by friends in San Francisco) was blessed with a beautiful and powerful tenor
voice, which he used to sing solos and also in chorale performances,
including singing in the San Francisco Symphony Chorus.
Jim was dearly
loved by family and friends and is sorely missed.
A family graveside
memorial at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana, on the lot where
his parents and sister, Janice, are buried, will be held later this month.
