Funeral services Wednesday for C. Janice York

C. Janice York died on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015.

She was born C. Janice Edwards in Dyer, Tennessee,, on August 2, 1949.

Her parents, Jack and Mary Ruth Edwards (both deceased) lived in Newbern, TN, and then migrated north to work at the steel mills. She was raised in Gary, IN, and her childhood home sat where 1st base is at the RailCats Stadium.

She was the only daughter and has two brothers, Bill Edwards of Cedar Lake, IN, and Gene Edwards (deceased) of Hobart, IN.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 47 years, Don Ray York of Valparaiso, IN, and her two children, Robin York Jackson of Hebron, IN, and Daniel Ray York of Valparaiso, IN, and their significant others, Jeffrey Jackson and Megan Holst York and her two grandchildren, Autumn York and Corbin York and the new baby due in May, and she had thirteen furry grandchildren.

She attended Emerson High School in Gary, IN, and graduated in 1967 and went on to Warnerís Beauty College. In 1968 she married the love of her life. She became a well-known beautician in Chesterton, IN, for over 40 years. She resided with her family in Chesterton for many years, Jackson Township for a few years then moved to Valparaiso, IN, for almost the last 30 years. She was the famous Loop Skating Rink Mom!

She always thought of others and worried about everybody except herself. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and a friend that will be missed tremendously!

Thanks to all of momís wonderful doctors, nurses, caregivers and all the staff at the VNA Hospice Center and to all our wonderful family and friends for your support. The York Family.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, with Pastor Quincy Worthington officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home.
