Fronia 'Louise' Veden dies at age 89

Fronia “Louise” Veden, age 89 of Portage, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the VNA Hospice Center, in Valparaiso.

She was born on August 18, 1925, in Golconda, IL, to Perry F. Baker and Dixie Glass-Baker, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Connie Krantz of Porter, Perry (Carol) Veden of Valparaiso, Donna Veden of Chesterton and Earl Veden of Portage. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Starla, Tina, Todd (Jen) and Tim, along with her four great-grandchildren: Zachary, Kayla, Reagan, Perri, Reilly, Ryan and Cyrus.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Buddy Veden, in 1978 and by her siblings: Mitch, Ray, Stanley, Mert, Ed and Bobby.

Louise worked as a Nurse’s Aide for many years. She was a Sunday Bible School Teacher at Augsburg Lutheran Church.

Louise was a member of several clubs and organizations including: a lifetime member of the VFW, a Cub Scout leader in the 1960s, a member of the J Ettes and was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

She also worked at the Dunes State Park and was a cook at Northside Diner, Bill’s Little Hut, and also cooked for the Royal Neighbors of America gatherings.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at 11:30 a.m., at Augsburg Cemetery in Porter, with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating.

Memorial donations may be given to Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Road, Porter, IN, 46304, and VNA Hospice Center, 2404 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN.
