Edward Carrington Meyer dies at age 73

Edward Carrington Meyer, age 73 passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015, at IU Saxony Hospital, Fishers, IN.

He was born July 23, 1941, in Paragould, AR, to Frederick and Rachel (nee Douglas) Meyer, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his adored, true love of his life, Lynn Marie (nee Christopher) Meyer. They were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chesterton, IN, on March 26, 1966, by the Reverend Louis W. Schulenburg.

Surviving also are his daughters Yvonne (Meyer) Reynolds, Howell, MI, and Charisse (Meyer) Johnson, Cicero, IN. Grandchildren Autumn Reynolds and Joshua Johnson, brother, August Douglas Meyer, St. Joseph, MI, and sister, Martha Meyer Bucksbarg, Chesterton, IN.

Ed graduated from Elston Senior High School in Michigan City, IN, in 1959. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Education from Purdue in 1967 and his MBA from IU/PU Ft. Wayne, IN, in 1971.

Ed had a long and distinguished business career of 40 years, beginning in 1967 with International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, IN, which became NAVISTAR, transferring him and his family to Downers Grove and Naperville, IL.

He served as a High-Level Systems Design Analyst, at the forefront of an elite team designing, implementing and refining software for: High-rise warehouses in Ft. Wayne, IN, and Springfield, OH; Chassis scheduling and “Just in Time” parts ordering and availability; Automatic Paint System in Springfield, OH (he retired from Springfield in 2007).

Ed served in the U.S. Army, 3 years active duty and 2 years reserves, from 1959-1964. He was a member of The American Legion #341 in Cicero, IN.
