Clyde Kent Clifft services Thursday, January 29

Clyde Kent Clifft, age 73 of Portage, IN, passed away on January 24, 2015.

He was born on November 27, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA, to Delbert and Helen Clifft, who preceded him in death.

Clyde is survived by his children, Jonathan (Melinda) Clifft of Lake Station, Rachael Ekstrand of Mason, OH, and Rebecca Sheehan of Portage; sister, Judy (Ray) Johnson of Kouts, IN; brother, Michael (Linda) Clifft of Ruskin, FL; grandchildren, Lee Sheehan, Will Power, Michael Ekstrand, Aaron Ekstrand and Noah Clifft; his girlfriend of 12 years, Maria Siler; and former wife and friend, Nelda (Johnson) Clifft.

Clyde was a United States Navy Veteran and retired Laborer from Laborers’ International Union Local # 81. During retirement he worked as a Direct Support Professional for Opportunity Enterprises. Clyde was a member of American Legion Post # 170, Moose Lodge Chapter # 1900, and an avid bowler who played on the Moose Bowling League. He was a volunteer and coach for many years at State Park Little League and loved spending time with his family.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN, 46368, with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home with Moose Lodge and American Legion services at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Clyde’s honor may be made to VNA Hospice Center, 2401 Valley Dr., Valparaiso, IN 46385-2520.
