Funeral services for Berniece T. Davis of Valparaiso, Indiana, formerly of Mountain Home, Arkansas were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015, at College & North Church of Christ, with Ken Burton officiating. Visitation was Friday, December 4, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Mountain Home.

Berniece passed from this life on November 27, 2015, in Valparaiso, Indiana, at the age of 87.

She was born on May 30, 1928, in Tippah County, Mississippi, the daughter of Oliver and Sarrah (Hodum) Tapp.

She married Doyle Dean Davis on July 8, 1944, at Randolph County, Arkansas.

Berniece enjoyed being with and doing for others. She participated in many volunteer activities at church, including being part of the making of bears and bunnies for the hospital. There were always plenty of stuffing and bow making at her home. She always had something cooked for someone in need or unexpected guests. Berniece was the second youngest of ten children and greatly missed her mother when she passed. Her outlet for this love was directed to someone older whom she could help and or comfort. Berniece enjoyed china painting, quilting and loved her gardening and her flowers, especially her roses. She was a wonderful mom who cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and expressed her love with special gifts that she had handcrafted. In a reflective moment a couple years earlier, Berniece commented "Doyle and I have had a good life".

Berniece is survived by her daughter Sheilla Davis of Chesterton, Indiana, son Delton Davis of Saint Joseph Missouri, one sister; Quilla Hightower of Stanton, Tennessee, four grandchildren; Shelley Ginn (Clay) of Saint Charles, MO, Andrew Davis (Cheryl) of Keizer, OR, Joshua Davis (Julie) of Chesapeake, VA, Jennifer Stotler (Stephen) of O'Fallon, MO and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Sarrah Tapp and by her husband, Doyle Dean Davis.

Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, AR, with Andrew Davis, Joshua Davis, Stephen Stotler, and Clay Ginn as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Shults Lewis Children’s Home, PO Box 471, Valparaiso, IN, 46384, or Children's Homes, 5515 Old Walcott Rd., Paragould, AR, 72450, in lieu of flowers.
