William G. Gland, age 89 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away on Monday, January
21, 2013 at Clare Bridge of Michigan City, Ind.
He was born on December 20, 1923 to Anthony and Nellie Gland, both of whom
preceded him in death.
On September 6, 1946, he married Jenne Samilson-Gland, who preceded him in
death.
Bill is survived by his daughters Pamela Buss, of Elkhart, Ind., and Robin
Gland of Valparaiso, Ind., as well as grandchildren Robert Buchwalter of
Elkhart and Brande (Chris) Rash of Kansas City, Mo.; great-grandchildren
Patrick Buchwalter of Spokane, Wash., and Kati Rash of Kansas City, Mo. two
sisters, Lorene Kamaski of Porter, Ind., and Charlotte Stetler of Lecanto,
Fla., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his son Jeffrey G. Gland.
Bill was a life-long member of the VFW Post 2511, Porter, life-long member
of the Eagles of Valparaiso, and member of the Iron Workers Union Local 395.
He served as Matradee at Winfield’s in Chesterton for over ten years. He
also managed Little League and brought it to its first regional title and
worked as a local Real Estate agent.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, at 11:00 a.m.,
from the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, with Pastor
Terry Rhine officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the funeral
home.
