Eugenia M. Kwiatkowski, age 91 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Life Care Center of Valparaiso, Ind.

She was born on July 21, 1921 to Walter and Frances Piernikowski, both of whom preceded her in death.

On August 15, 1942 in Gary, Ind., she married Sylvester Kwiatkowski, who also preceded her in death on March 17, 1998.

She is survived by her sons, David S. (Dianne) Kwiatkowski of Valparaiso, Ind., and Anthony Kwiatkowski of Illinois, grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Paul, Adam, Nicholas and Anna, and great-grandchildren Colin, Dylan, Brooklyn, Elizabeth, Penelope, Lexi and Cora.

She is also preceded in death by her siblings Ted, Lucille, Stephanie and Bernice.

Eugenia was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. Eugenia and her husband Sylvester tended their farm, which is now Dogwood Park, selling vegetables at their stand in front of their home. She was also employed by Slick’s laundry for over twenty years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Rd., Chesterton, Ind., with Father James Meade officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.

Memorials in Eugenia’s name may be given to VNA Hospice Center and Saint Patrick Catholic Church.
