Penny Kay Shutz dies at age 53

Penny Kay Schutz, 53, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at her home.

She was born December 31, 1959 in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Harry T. and Barbara L. (Westafer) Mort.

Penny married Mitchell D. Schutz in North Manchester, on July 1 1978.

Penny is survived by her husband, Mitchell D. Schutz of North Manchester, daughter, Brogan Doran (Douglas Hayden) Schutz of South Bend, Ind.; mother, Barbara L. Mort of Chesterton, Ind.; and brother, Greg (Sandy) Mort of Raleigh, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry T. Mort and sister, Kathy Flory.

She was involved in Tri Kappa sorority since high school and attended First Brethren Church. A devoted and loving mother, wife, and friend, she always put others ahead of herself. Whatever was important to her family, she happily became an expert in the field, offering guidance and support. She emanated strength, and everything that Penny had a hand in was more beautiful because of her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, Ind.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m., Monday, March 18, at the funeral home.

Memorials arre preferred to the Inflammatory Breast Cancer Foundation or Tri Kappa Sorority.
