Otto Richard Martin, age 72 of Porter, Ind., passed away Thursday, February
14, 2013 at his home.
He was born July
6, 1940 in Chicago, Ill., to Otto and Margaret (Ihde) Martin, both of whom
preceded him in death.
He was married
to Debora (Szymanski) Martin, who survives of Porter, Ind.
Otto is also
survived by his sons, Danny Martin of Anderson, Ind., Billy (Lisa) Martin of
Shawano, Wis., and Scott (Tina) Martin of Green Bay, Wis.; daughters, Debbie
Johnson of Sartell, Minn., and Tammy (Paul) Marsala of Woodstock, Ill.;
sisters, Marilyn Cummins of North Aurora, Ill., and Diane Baldyga of Egg
Harbor, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law,
Darlene Martin of St. Charles, Ill.; brother in law, Edward Szymanski of
Hammond, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by his brother, Ronald Martin.
Otto was an area
resident since 1993. He retired in 1991 from Amoco Oil and was a veteran of
the US Navy. He loved horses and horse racing and enjoyed going to the
casino. He loved Lake Michigan and the dunes and enjoyed visiting the parks.
Funeral services
will be held Monday, February 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral
Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., with Rev. Frederick Hoover
officiating. Burial will follow at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso, Ind.
Visitation will
be held Monday, February 18, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at
1:00 p.m.
