Anthony 'Tony' Puglisi dies at age 73

Anthony “Tony” L. Puglisi, age 73, of Valparaiso, Ind., died on January 11, 2013 in Georgetown, Texas, after suffering lung related illnesses.

He grew up in Donora, Penn., and moved to Indiana as an adult to work in the steel industry.

Anthony is survived by his wife of 41 years, Treva, along with daughter Vanessa (Bryon) Jacob of Austin, Texas, son Michael of Seattle, Wash., beloved grandchildren Olivia and Powell Jacob of Austin, Texas, and brothers Paul (Peggy) Puglisi of The Villages, Fla. and Kenneth (Elizabeth) Puglisi of Buchanan, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Frank Puglisi of Donora, Penn., and older brother Frank “Bucky” Puglisi of Chesterton.

He spent most of his career working at US Steel Gary Works and the remainder at private companies contracting in the local mills.

His children are graduates of Duneland Schools, having attended Liberty Elementary, Jackson Elementary, Liberty Middle School, and graduating from Chesterton High School in 1995 and 1998. His wife, Treva, was a longtime employee of Duneland Schools only retiring in recent years as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools.

A memorial service in honor of Anthony will be forthcoming this spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Lung Association.

He is being cremated in Texas through the Neptune Society with his urn to be buried at Angel Crest Cemetery in Valparaiso.
