Anne Marie (Pope) Morthland, age 93, passed away on January 10, 2013, at Gateway Emergency Room in Newburgh, Ind.

Anna was born on October 15, 1919 and was raised in Liberty Township.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her parents Herman and Carrie (Lindahl) Pope.

She is survived by son Doug (Sueky) Morthland of Boonville, Ind., daughter Jill (Roy) of Marshall, Ind.; grandchildren Ramie (Ken) Postema, Scott (Millie) Orimiston, J.T. Wells and Andy Wells; great-grandchildren Kelsey Postema, Jacob Wells, Emmy Wells and Cole Wells; and great-great-granddaughter Sasha Orimiston.

Also surviving are her brother Irvin Pope, brother-in-law Bill Morthland and many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Liberty Twp. High School in 1938 where she was a star basketball player. She was employed at Valparaiso University for 24 years where she worked as the cafeteria manager at Sheele/Lankenau Hall. Anna was a member of Liberty Bible Church and belonged to Liberty Bells Home Extension Club.

An excellent cook, Anna loved to fish, travel and raised beautiful flowers in her garden. She enjoyed home decorating, visiting with friends and watching Chicago Cubs baseball and IU basketball along with other sporting events on TV.

The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN. Burial will follow at the Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Liberty Bible Church, 824 North Calumet Ave., Chesterton, IN. 46304.
