William Billy Knies dies at age 39

William “Billy” Knies, age 39, of Westville, Ind., passed away on October 26, 2013.

He was born March 25, 1974 in Valparaiso, Ind., to Dave and Pat (Parker) Knies of Chesterton, Ind., both of whom survive.

He is also survived by his love, Annie Coen of Westville, Ind.; children, Kristofer Knies, Jordan Knies, Victoria Knies and Madison Knies; sisters, Sarah (Lars) Jonker of Zionsville, Ind., and Chrissy (Kevin) Nowatzke of LaPorte, Ind.; grandparents, Norma and Elmer Smith of Carlisle, Ind., and many nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Margaret Knies and Uncle Jim Knies.

Knies was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a Union painter for Local # 460, most recently employed with Zarnas Painting. He enjoyed riding and did so at every chance. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and raced BMX, winning a National Championship. He was a fun loving person who enjoyed life and will be greatly missed by his family and dear friends. His memory will be carried on through his gift of organ donation.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind. There will be a time of sharing and memories by family and friends beginning at 5:00 pm.
