(Tucker) Fulton, longtime Chesterton resident, passed away Sunday, February
9, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Valparaiso, Ind., at the age of 87.
Virginia was born
on November 29, 1926, in Gary, Ind., to Thomas G. and May Tucker.
She was married to
Robert E. Fulton, Sr., for 65 years prior to his passing on February 20,
She is survived by
her children, Dorothy (Trent) Bullock of Ogden Dunes, Ind., Dianne (Michael)
McCorkel of Chesterton, and Robert (Cindy) Fulton, Jr. of Porter, Ind.,
eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great
grandchildren and sister-in-law, Gerri Tucker.
preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, William Tucker, Sr. and
Thomas Tucker; sisters, Margaret Rose, Juanita Snyder and infant sisters,
Marian, Violet and Dorothy Tucker.
Virginia was a
dedicated homemaker and former employee of Westchester Public Library for
ten years. She cherished time with her family and always showed a great love
for children. As a member of the deaf community, Virginia often took it upon
herself to teach sign language to family and friends. This will be a memory
shared by many loved ones. She was also an active participant in both the
Black Oak Hearing Impaired Lionís Club, Northwest Indiana Deaf Club and a
member of the Heritage Lutheran Church of Valparaiso, Ind. Her hobbies
included sewing, gardening and cooking. Virginia will always be remembered
as having a loving and kind nature, strong faith and her love for the Lord.
will be held Friday, February 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans
Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with Pastor Joe Ostafinski
officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation will be
held Thursday, February 13, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
