Verna Deanne Harrell services Monday

Verna “Deanne” Harrell, age 76 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St. Anthony Hospital Michigan City.

She was born on November 1, 1936 in Truman, Arkansas, to J.T. and Emily Morgan Lowder, both of whom preceded her in death.

On June 10, 1955 she married James Harrell who preceded her in death on November 23, 1998.

Deanne is survived by her children Michael Harrell of Chesterton, Cheryl (Thomas) Lane of Trenton, Georgia, and Linda (Jeffrey) Baney of LaPorte, Ind.,; grandchildren Michael Harrell, Stephanie Harrell, Destinee Harrell, Zachary Rand, Andrew Baney and Chad Baney and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her siblings James Terry (Margaret) Lowder of Murphysboro, Tenn., Bonnie (William) Plunk of Mississippi, Rose Lowder of Mt. Clemons, Mich., and Donna (Gary) Harder of Sterling Heights, Mich.

Deanne was preceded in death by her grandchildren Darrell Rand and Jennifer Harrell.

She was a member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church. Deanne was a Pastor’s wife for 12 years in Chesterton from 1986-1998 where she lovingly stood beside her husband. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, arts, crafts and gardening. She worked part time at Woolworth and Harvey’s in Michigan City, but for the most part she was a full time mom.

Funeral services will be on Monday, July 15, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 1320 Earl Rd., Michigan City, Ind., with Pastor Matthew Cottrill officiating.

Burial will be at the Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, Ind.

Memorials may be given to an educational fund for Deanne’s grandchildren.
