Terry Lee Kelly dies at age 57

Terry Lee Kelly, age 57, of Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Chesterton, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013.

Terry was born April 25, 1956 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, to the late Robert E. and Helen E. (Carlson) Kelly.

Surviving is his daughter, Danielle (Mike) Sobol of Bremen, Ind., along with his grandsons Addison and Connor Sobol.

Also surviving are his brother Bob (Nancy) Kelly of Melbourne, Fla., and his sister Jaci (Billy) Evans of Jasper, Ga.

Terry was preceded in death by his daughter Megan Kelly in 2009.

Terry was a graduate of Chesterton High School, class of 1974. In 1982, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served honorably before his discharge in 1986. Terry was employed as a car salesman, and later in dispatch at Landstar in Mishawaka, Ind. In his earlier years, he was a D.J. for the CHS radio station, and later as well in North Carolina.

He loved sports, especially the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, and enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Terry also loved animals. His wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

A graveside memorial service and Military honors will be held at a later date. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In his memory, donations may be made to the ASPCA or the Disabled American Veterans.
