Steven Joel Stilley, age 56, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

He was born September 16, 1957, in Gary, Ind., to Guy and Ruby (Tanner) Stilley.

Survivors include his son, Adam Stilley of Crown Point, Ind.; his mother, Ruby Stilley of Valparaiso, Ind.; siblings: Dennis (Ruth) Stilley, Jerry (Susan) Stilley, Bradley Stilley, Judith (Gerald) Newberry, Jeannette (John) Loughran, Daniel (Shirley) Vaughan; former wife and friend Carla Olson; friend Wendy Shepherd and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Stilley and his #2 mom, Ruth Vaughan Stilley.

Steven graduated from River Forest High School in 1976 and served with the U.S. Navy from 1976-80 as an Operations Specialist E-5. He received an Associates Degree in Mechanics from International Technical Institute, served as a Millwright at Arcelor Mittal Steel for over 23 years and was a proud member of U.S.W.A. Local #6787. Steven was a motorcycle enthusiast, belonged to various motorcycle organizations and enjoyed membership at American Legion Post #502.

A memorial visitation will be held Monday, July 21, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso. Entombment of ashes will take place Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. directly at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gift of Hope Organ Donation, 425 Spring Lake Dr., Itasca, IL, 60143.
