Services set for Paul Gesse

Valparaiso resident Paul R. Gesse, 87, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at his home.

He was born April 8, 1927, in Kouts, the son of William and Anna (Broderman) Gesse, who preceded him in death.

In 1952 he married Jeanette Alexander, who in 1954 also preceded him in death.

On June 7, 1958, he married Jacqueline Curry, who survives.

Also surviving are his sons, Keith (Leslie) Gesse of Chesterton and Kurt (Andrea) Gesse of Tyler, Texas; a brother, William Gesse of Kouts; grandchildren Dan (Alison) Duncan, Sean (Jackie) Duncan, Kari Duncan (fiancˇ, Eric Barnhill), Elizabeth, Haley and John Gesse, and Reed and Luke Gesse; and great grandchildren Calain and Regan Duncan.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Duncan; a son, Kent Gesse; and six siblings, Floyd, Lawrence, Raymond, Leslie, Hulda, and “Buster.”

Paul graduated from Kouts High School in 1945 and received his education degree from Ball State University. He served as an M.P. with the U.S. Army and made his career for 37 years as a principal at Garyton Elementary School and then Aylesworth Junior High School in Portage before retiring in 1987.

A funeral service is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road in Valparaiso, with burial at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Kouts.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
