Services Saturday for Mary Weaver Swanson, 90

Mary Weaver Swanson, 90 , was born July 8, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo. to Lucius and Helen (Knapp) Weaver, and died December 12, at home in Brownsburg, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lawrence Swanson - former pastor of Augsburg Lutheran Church in Porter, IN, and by her brother George Weaver.

She is survived by her five children: Larry (Becky) Swanson of Ft. Wayne, IN; Lorene (Bill) Schaudt of Beverly Shores, IN; Linda (John) Poh of Bainbridge Island, WA, Lynn (Pamela) Swanson of Playas, Ecuador; and Lois Swanson of Brownsburg, IN. Mary has 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One brother, Jim Weaver, survives in CA.

Mary was a registered nurse and worked primarily in geriatric care, and was Director of Nurses at Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Valparaiso for several years. She loved helping others through her nursing and through her role as pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Much of her retirement was spent at N. Twin Lake in Howe, IN, and N. Padre Island, TX, where she enjoyed gardening, church life, and entertaining family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 11:00 a.m. (visitation with family at 10:00 a.m. and at the luncheon following the service) at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Rd., Porter, IN.
