Services Friday for Kathleen May Leach age 100

Kathleen May Leach, age 100 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away at the VNA Horton Hospice Center, in Valparaiso, Ind., on Tuesday, May 28, 2013.

She was born on December 10, 1912, in Beaver Dam Kentucky to Forest and Frances Allen Leach, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her close friend and caretaker Darla Sheets of Valparaiso, Ind., and good friend Penny Remlinger of Whiting, Ind., special cousins: Lucile Bozell of Demotte, Ind., Ron (Shirley) Bozell of Demotte, Sue (Byron) Frieden of Wheatfield, Ind., Pam (Terry) Schultz of Demotte, Ind., Beth (Keith) Dougherty of Valparaiso, Ind., and Charlotte (Ron) Brechner of Porter, Ind., Kevin(Tami) Brechner of Fishers, Ind., Taylor, Carley, Carson, Libby, Mia and Ava, Brett (Jinna) Brechner of Chesterton and Luke, Will and Drew.

Kathleen was a member of Liberty Bible Church in Chesterton and a member of the “Keengers” group for years. She was a teacher for 43 years. In her early years she taught in a one room schoolhouse. She taught several years at the North Park Academy, Chicago. Kathleen volunteered at Westchester Library as an ESL teacher, at Kid’s Alive International and the Christian Women’s Club for many years.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 31, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. from the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, Ind., with Pastor Cort Bucher officiating. Burial will take place at the Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations may be made to Campus Crusade for Christ: attention Kevin Brechner.
