Service Wednesday for Leona Wiseman

Leona Genevieve Wiseman, age 96, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away on August 29, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Mary Beth, in Bellefonte, Penn.

Leona was born on August 28, 1917, in Michigan City, Ind., to George and Frances (Ulanowicz) Gleason.

She married James C. Wiseman on April 29, 1939, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Michigan City.

They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2009. She was a devoted wife and mother to their seven children: James II, Robert (Karen), Kathy (Terry Steele), Joan (Tom Anderson), Richard (Paula), Paul (Debbie) and Mary Beth (Andrew Ward). Leona enjoyed visits with her 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church for 70 years, and was active in Willing Workers for many of those years. Leona and Jim volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Chesterton. She enjoyed family, friends, and home.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband in 2009, and by her brother, James Gleason.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Rd., Chesterton, Ind., with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home 525 South 2nd St. Chesterton. 926-1309.
