Ruth Colleen Dehart dies at age 83

Ruth Colleen Dehart age 83 passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Houston, TX.

She was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Hopkinsville, KY, the daughter of Elmer and Essie Petty.

On Dec. 27, 1947, she married Donald Dehart and in 1956 they moved to Liberty Township. Donald died April 25, 1974, but Ruth remained a resident for over 30 years. She became active in the Moose Lodge in 1978.

Ruth later retired from the Duneland School Corp. in 1986 and moved to TX.

On March 26, 1995, she married Arthur William Cushman, of Liberty Township. They resided in Pasadena, TX, until she was overtaken by her illness in 2013.

She is survived by her husband “Bill” Cushman, and her four children, Randy Dehart, Debra Dehart, Donald Dehart and John Dehart. Also, “The love of her life,” granddaughter Sierra Nicole Dehart.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Dehart, her parents, and four brothers and two sisters, Louis Petty, Millard Petty, Milfred Petty, Floyd Petty, Audeen Driskill, and Florence King.

Ruth passed much like she lived, peacefully with love and grace.

In honoring her wishes a private family celebration of life event is planned.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
