Ruth Burns service Wednesday

Ruth H. Burns, age 91 of Chesterton, Ind., passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, in Crown Point, Ind.

She was born February 8, 1923 in Chicago, Ill., to Axel and Engborg (Mortensen) Adler, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married in 1943 to Robert E. Burns, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Barbara (Michael) Ingram of Crown Point, Ind., Jerry Burns, Jr., of Key West, Fla., and Desiree and Justin Johnson of Wheatfield, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Nathan, Bethany and Haley Ingram and nephews, Tom and Gary Lindquist.

She was also preceded in death by her sons, Bobby and Jerry Burns; daughter, Linda Burns; and sister, Evelyn (John) Lindquist.

Ruth worked as a taste tester for Quaker Oats and retired in 1988. She was a member of PETA and loved animals, especially her cats Ming and Miss Kitty and enjoyed feeding her birds. She dedicated her life to her family and was always there to take care of them. She was funny, quick witted and loved to tease. She will be greatly missed and is loved by so many.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with Father Andrew Corona officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
