Rudolph Jimenez Sr dies at 80

Rudolph Jimenez Sr., age 80 of Chesterton, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at his home. He was born on June 26, 1934, in Lanai, Hawaii, to Faustino Algarme and Encarnacion Jimenez, both of whom preceded him in death.

On December 2, 1968, in Gary, IN, he married Donna Jimenez, who survives in Chesterton.

Rudy is survived by his children: Rudy (Michelle) Jimenez, Jr., of Chesterton, IN, Bryant (Liz) Jimenez, Sr. of Hernando, MS, and Kimiko Jimenez of Chesterton, IN; grandchildren Sierra, Kyle (fiancŽ Lauren), Ty, Jacob, Bryant Jr. and Abigail. Also surviving are his siblings Josephine (Wesley) Tucker, Warren (Aloma) Gamble, Tony Cartagena, Rose Bradley and Victor Sarno, as well as mother-in-law, Lois Bryant, and brothers-in-law Jim (Gloria) Bryant and Steve (Pat) Bryant.

Rudy is also preceded in death by his sister, Flora Hill in 2012, his father-in-law Cecil Bryant and his brother-in-law, Barry Bryant.

Rudy was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 6103 and proudly serviced his country in the United States Air Force Air Police. He was an avid race car fan of Indy 500 and NASCAR. Rudy was also a boxing enthusiast, computer buff and Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears fan.

Memorial donations may be given to VNA Hospice, 2404 Valparaiso St., Valparaiso, IN, 46383.

A celebration of Rudy’s life will be held at a later date.
