Robert M. Frye visitation Monday

Robert M. Frye, Sr. age 80 of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at his home.

He was born on October 29, 1934 in Johnstown, PA, to Violet Frye.

He was married to Nancy S. (Sakmar) Frye, who preceded him in death on October 18, 2013.

He is survived by his sons; Robert (Katie) Frye Jr. of Roselle, IL, Robin (Deb Kindernay) Frye of Bass Lake, IN, and Jerry Frye of South Bend, IN; daughters; Susan (Frye) Neubauer of Valparaiso, Tracy Frye of Michigan City and Ryann (Frye) Bubac of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren; Kara (Rich) Weltzin, Jared Underhill, Cameron Soohey, Richard Soohey Jr., Heather (James) Brogdon, Corey Bubac, Haley Bubac, Tim Bubac, Taylor Frye, Zach Frye, Derek Frye, Melissa (Don) Pattee, Gavin Frye and Greg Frye, eight great-grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law who were like brothers and sisters to him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, wife Nancy Frye; grandson Michael Frye; grandfather Albert Frye; aunt and uncle, Bertha and Gerald Penrod; and cousin Charlotte Kiehlkopf.

Robert was co-owner of Rainboutique and Porter Speed Wash and a volunteer firefighter for Liberty Township for many years. He was a devoted father, always eager to help his children and friends. Robert was a shining example of what it means to be a “Dad”. For many years, he and Nancy were snowbirds. They enjoyed spending their time between Daytona Beach, Florida and Indiana.

Funeral visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Robert’s name may be made to Coolspring Township Volunteer Fire Department, 7111 W 400 N, Michigan City, IN 46360 or Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department, 47 W. 900 N., Chesterton, IN 46304. Cremation Services provided by Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN.
