Richard Coleman,
Sr., age 81, of Michigan City, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, August 26,
2014 at St. Anthony Hospice in Michigan City, IN.
Richard was born on
September 9, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., to Arthur Thomas Coleman and June
(Cadman) Coleman, both of whom preceded him in death.
On March 26, 1955,
Richard married Betteann (Gast) Coleman, who also preceded him in death.
Richard is survived
by his four children, Sheila Rae (Joel Tapia) Coleman, Arthur Thomas (Wendy)
Coleman II, Mellodie Lynn (Louis Jr.) Henckel, Richard Charles (Melissa)
Coleman Jr. Grandchildren Corine (Dmitriy) Bazylyuk, Andrea Henckel, Erin
(Chris Key) Jones, Louis (Deanna) Henckel III, Arthur Thomas Coleman III,
Sharon Coleman, and Emily Coleman; great-grandchildren Ella, Lily, and
Sophia Bazylyuk, Arthur Thomas Coleman IV, Zoey Coleman, Axel, Nathan, and
Lennox Henckel, Kingston Paul Key, and special cousin Jeanie (Ed) Jerabek.
Richard retired
after forty-two years as a member of Local 17 Heat & Frost Insulators. He
was also a member of the D.A.V., VFW, and American Legion in Michigan City
and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Michigan City. Richard enjoyed
farming, hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Visitation for
family and friends will take place on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 4:00
to 8:00 p.m. at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services 613 Washington
St. Michigan City, Ind., and on Wednesday, September 3, from 10:30 to 11:00
a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Michigan City, Indiana. All times are
Central Time.
Funeral services
will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, 1237 East Coolspring Ave., Michigan City, Ind., with Pastor
David Solum officiating.
Interment will take
place in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, Ind.
In lieu of flowers,
the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The American Lung
Association.
