Mildred 'Miki' Stipanovich dies at age 97

Miki Stipanovich, 97, of Chesterton, formerly of Buffalo, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on November 3rd. Miki was preceded in death by her loving husband Ned, her parents Steven and Yanja Petrovich and her sister Anne (late Vincent) Edbauer. She is survived by her sister Kay (late Robert) Von Ins, her loving children Martha (Michael) Loncarich, Paul (Patricia) Stipanovich and Joanne (Sam) Poznanovich; cherished grandchildren Allison Loncarich, Michael (Vinka) Loncarich, Christine (Rob) Larkin, Stevan Stipanovich, Mary (Colin) May, Sam Poznanovich, Marko (Kari) Poznanovich, Diane (Steve) Matalin and great-grandchildren Nick and Kaitlin Guarino, Michael Loncarich and Ted (Bridget) Lyman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Special “mom” to MaryAnn Pritza and “gram” to Marilyn Pritza, Nikola Pritza, Tammy (John) DeLaurentis, “great-gram” to Mia DeLaurentis.

Miki was a warm-hearted Serbian homemaker who loved feeding all who walked through her door with traditional sumptuous meals and baked goods. She was known for her nut rolls. She enjoyed word games and Russian literature and welcomed the beauty of changing seasons. She especially enjoyed attending church and hearing the choir sing, of which she was a member for many years.

Funeral arrangements by The Colonial Memorial Chapels in Lackawanna, New York. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Serbian Orthodox Church in Lackawanna, NY, or VNA Hospice of Porter County, IN.
