Michael Celebucki dies at age 54

Michael Celebucki, age 54 of Porter, Ind., passed away Friday, July 19, 2013.

He was born July 24, 1958 in Michigan City, Ind., to Anthony and Sally (Whalen) Celebucki.

He is survived by wife Karen Celebucki, of Porter, Ind.; son, Anthony Celebucki, of Porter; daughter, Michelle Celebucki, of Minneapolis, Minn.; brother, Raymond Celebucki, of Trail Creek, Ind.; and sister, Christine Kolasa, of Westville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Katherine Murgita.

Michael was a member of the Steelworker’s Local 6787. He was a maintenance electrician for Arcelor Mittal. Michael was a former police officer for the Chesterton Police Department. He was also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Michael coached Little League. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and golf. He was a devoted and loving husband, the greatest dad, mentor and friend. His family was everything to him and he was very proud of his children. Even in his death, he continued to give as an organ/tissue donor.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind., with Father James Meade officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Memorial Donations may be made to State Park Little League, CPD K-9 Unit or Wounded Warrior Project.
