Marjorie Jean Crego services today

Marjorie Jean (Heath) Crego, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Loyola University Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

She was born on June 2, 1942, in Chenango Forks, NY, to Merton Albert and Gwendolyn Minerva Heath.

Marjorie grew up in Chenango Forks, NY. She graduated from Chenango Forks High School in Chenango Forks, NY, in 1960. At age 22, Marjorie was named the New York State Dairy Princess for 1965. She also worked as a secretary, an art teacher, and a housewife over the years.

Marjorie married George Crego in 1965 in Westminster, MD. They were happily married for 49 years. Marjorie was a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church in Chesterton, IN. She enjoyed volunteer work for her church, birdwatching, sewing, sketching, crocheting and participating in her church’s nursing home ministry.

Marjorie is survived by her spouse George, formerly of Baldwinsville, NY, now living in Chesterton, IN; her children, Elizabeth of Dublin Ireland, Edward of Chesterton, IN, Geoffrey of Woodbridge, VA, and Heather of New Oxford, PA; her siblings, Geraldine, Lois, and Martha; and her grandchildren, Andrew, Rebecca, Caleb, David, Amber, Peter, Amanda, Alex, Laura and Hannah.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Junior, Herbert, and Orin.

A funeral service will be held at Fairhaven Baptist Church, 86 East Oak Hill Road, Chesterton, IN, 46304, at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Fairhaven Baptist Church Nursing Home Ministry Memorial Fund, 86 East Oak Hill Road, Chesterton, IN, 46304.
