Lowell Bennett, age 63, of Chesterton, Ind., passed away July 18, 2013 in Westville, Ind.

Lowell was born in Valparaiso, Ind., on January 19, 1950, to Stanley and Lillian Mae (Lamphier) Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bennett of Chesterton; children, Tony (Katie) Bennett of North Judson, Ind., Jayson (Aanya) Bennett of Valparaiso, Brianna Renee Bennett (Cory) of Chesterton, Amy (Ryan) Constable of Peru, Ind.; step-children, David (Mary Jo) Akers of Surprise, Ariz., Sara Margaret Akers of Chesterton, Ind., and Robin (George) Tharp of Chesterton; brother-in-law, Alfred (Mary) Bonner, Jr. of Chesterton; sister-in-law, Patricia (Terry) Dykhuis of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Janelle, Brianna, Faith, DJ, Ryann, Emily (Shane), Allen, Jacob and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Giovanni and Gabby. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Lillian Mae Bennett; biological father, Lowell; daughter, Dorette Bennett and sister-in-law, Carol Johnson.

He was a retired steelworker from Bethlehem Steel. Lowell was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Post 170.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Ind.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m.
