Lloyd and Dorthea Betty Johnson service Friday

Long-time residents Lloyd Peter Johnson and Dorthea (Betty) Elizabeth Johnson will be laid to rest on Friday, July 5, 2013, at Chesterton Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

Lloyd passed away August 19, 1999, in Phoenix, Ariz. Betty passed away January 8, 2013 in Lakewood, Wash. It was their request to both be cremated and laid to rest together.

Lloyd and Betty Johnson were married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and celebrated over 50 years of marriage prior to Lloyd passing away.

Many buildings in Porter County stand today because Lloyd designed and oversaw their construction, including Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the gymnasium at Chesterton Middle School.

Lloyd and Betty are survived by their five children, Vivian Haughee, Patricia Tardell, Lorrie Ferguson, Rebecca duBois and Keith Johnson.

Lloyd leaves behind one sister, Geraldine Dickert, in Knoxville, Tenn.

Also surviving are grandchildren Paul Allan Haughee, Debra Powers, Brian McAvoy, Heather Rafferty, Paul David Anderson, Katherine Schryner, Geneva duBois. There are also sixteen surviving great-grandchildren.
