Leslie H. “Les” Krause, 79, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014, at the VNA Hospice Center. He was born February 3, 1935 in Gary, IN, to Carl A. and Dorothy (Bolles) Krause.

Les served with the U.S. Army, was a member of Faith Memorial Lutheran Church and Porter County Farm Bureau. He worked as an electrician in the energy division at U.S. Steel Gary Works until his retirement, but farming remained his passion.

On November 11, 1961, he married Marilyn Lemster who preceded him in death in 2007.

Survivors include their children, Kurt (Brenda) Krause, Kristen (Sean) Kearney, five grandchildren, Christopher and Heather Krause, Hannah, Nick and Emma Kearney.

He is also survived by brothers Richard (Carolyn) Krause, Jerry (Wilma) Krause, David (Diane) Krause and Albert (Elaine) Krause and sisters Barbra Bottorff, Carol Glancy, Evelyn (Gerald) Pisowicz, and Gail (Edward) Hiscox.

He was preceded in death by his brother Carl D. Krause.

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. directly at Faith Lutheran Church, 753 N. Calumet Ave., Valparaiso, with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Eric Schoech officiating, with burial following at Angelcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church and VNA Hospice.
